NORIT Process Technology is developing several applications of membranes in the brewing industry. Two of our latest technologies are the Beer Membrane Filtration – as an alternative to Kieselguhr in the brewery-, and the decolourisation of beer by membranes – with advantages for the producers of alcopops and beer based premixes a.o. Membrane applications are also developed for the production of product- and process water.

During the development stage of such applications NPT uses the expertise, knowledge and technologies of all its sister-companies. The membrane technology comes from X-FLOW, SÜDMO is able to support with the implementation of the valves and Haffmans provides its technologies to be used in the optimal filtration line. By this co-operation, NPT is capable of delivering stand-alone units, parts or the turnkey filtration line. For the future, NPT puts a lot of effort in the development of new membrane applications in the brewing industry. Currently the recovery of beer from yeast shows great potential even though it is still in the development stage.
